Updates in Jan 2010

After much hard work in December we are kind of less busy in January. Most of the time we are working on the post-shooting job for the clients. In order to refresh my mind, I worked with two make-up artists and took two model sets with quite different feelings.

Date: Jan 8, 2010
Venue: Tai Wo
Model and Make-up Artist: Natalie

Date: Jan 11, 2009
Venue: Yuen Long Kam Tin
Model: Kennie
Make-up Artist: Kennie, Ka Yee

Besides portrait shooing, I was also invited to shoot some stage photos for the debut performance of 零與一劇團 at Sheung Wan Civic Centre last night. It was a great experience as I found out that it requires some skills to take good photos when the lighting varies for every scene. I also have to be alert when capturing the ever-changing facial expression of the protagonists and their movement on stage. Interesting!

Fashion styling shots at Pray

Last Sunday was full of joy and fun as I had the chance to bring a model with her make-up artist to my friend's upstairs boutique in Causeway Bay - "Pray" to take some stylish fashion shots. I get to know Ka Yee (the model) and Kennie (the make-up artist) in my portrait photography class last year. Although they work only as freelance, I am very glad that they show their professionalism and 100% trust in me. Ka Yee changed 5 sets of clothes, each of them expressing a different charm of her ranging from a boyish teenager to a sexy young lady. I would also like to send my special thanks to "Pray" for giving me a free hand in making use of their venue and their wardrobe.

Poster for "西門記" - a play by 六樓后座劇團

I have the honour of being invited by the popular 六樓后座劇團 to shoot the poster for their coming new play in August called "西門記". For me this was quite an interesting project because I was just given a brief storyline and some keywords a few days before the day for taking photos. The story is about 3 young men who have some special encounters after they bought a suit.....it is encouraging in nature and so I wanted to take the photo on a rooftop to express the idea of freedom and pursuit of dreams. There is not much pain in looking for a suitable venue since the headquarter of 六樓后座劇團 is located on the top floor of an old building in Causeway Bay. Finally the photo was taken on their rooftop with the three protagonists lying on an abandoned sofa. They are professional actors and without their inspiration I would not be able to take this good picture with such a dramatic effect!

Styling photos in Studio: for Bernice Ngor

This is Bernice's graduate assignment in her last year's make-up study in Poly University. It was a challenging experience since I need to plan the set up and lighting for 5 different make-up style. Although the girls are not professional models, I think Bernice is good at assigning the right person for each cast. They gave me much inspiration and the photos are greeted with great enthusiasm.
